First of all, they’ve got a great little dining patio. Despite the adjacent parking lot, Bonefish Mac’s managed to create a nice “Floridian-style” setting for outdoor dining. Indoors, you are warmly greeted by the hostess who gives you a beeper. The rustic wood-hewn décor is abundant in sea-faring paraphernalia, from ship items mounted on the walls to a gigantic alligator hanging from the ceiling. And if you are worried about missing any sports game, there are big screen TVs everywhere! The booths consist of blue (ocean color) padded seats and the wood tables are polished wood with very comfortable chairs. Oh, there’s also a small game room for the kids.

It’s probably a good idea to peruse the menu before being seated. It is one of the most diverse menus I’ve ever seen. Basically, they can satisfy just about any mood or appetite, from light Caesar wraps to 17 types of salad bowls, 10 choices of burgers, wraps, about 20 different kinds of subs, and a great selection of seafood dishes and landlubber entrees.

My two dinner companions and I started off with house salads, which were quite large size for side salads (only $2.50 extra). The lettuce was crispy and cold and the tomatoes were wonderfully fresh. The balsamic vinaigrette was perfect. I also ordered their Island conch chowder ($4.99). That was a fantastic treat. It was rich and thick with a little kick of Tabasco. Delicious! We shared their mountainous Mac Daddy Nachos ($10.99), which consisted of tri-color tortilla chips smothered in Chuck's special recipe chili, assorted cheeses, onions, tomatoes, lettuce and jalapeno peppers. This gigantic appetizer that can easily satisfy 4 hungry people is served with sour cream and pico.

One of my dinner companions ordered the shrimp scampi ($16.99). The jumbo shrimp was perfectly cooked in a light garlic butter and served over linguini. A very nice flavor – not overpowered by garlic, just right. My other dining partner went with the key lime grilled chicken. An excellent choice! This dish included two perfectly grilled boneless breasts marinated in an oh-so-delectible Key Lime herb juice and charbroiled (Only $10.99). All entrees are served with a choice of two sides (They offer about 11 delicious sides.) Onion rings or sweet potato fries are only $.75 extra and you can add a small house or Caesar salad for just $2.50. If you want your entree smothered in mushrooms and onions, it's only $1.29 extra.

I ordered the Captain’s Special ($19.99). This was an excellent choice. The dish consisted of a grouper fillet baked with a delicious and moist crabmeat stuffing topped with sautéed shrimp and their special lemon butter caper sauce. On the side was a fabulously tasty portion of sautéed sliced carrots, sugar peapods, and broccoli. On our next trip, we'll try some of their overstuffed sandwiches and subs (starting at just $6.99!) - ideal for a family and for anyone looking for a good value.

After finishing off our entrees, we asked for the dessert menu. Ooh, so many desserts, so little time. We finally decided on sharing the "Golden Dome, which is a warm brownie topped with hot fudge and hot caramel, vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. A good choice it was. My taste buds were doing summersaults. There are other excellent desserts, but being a chocoholic, I’m glad I chose this one. Unfortunately, we had absolutely no room for coffee. We’ll make sure to leave just enough room next time.

I would be remiss if I failed to mention that Bonefish Mac's has some great deals, such as their sumptuous $5.99 lunch, All-U-Can-Eat Wednesday, Kids Eat Free on Mondays and Thursdays, and 50% off 3-5pm Mon-Thurs. It's a great way to experience many savory items from their large menu at super low prices! (Click here for their daily specials)

Well, this gives you a good idea of what to expect from this great addition to South Florida’s lineup of top-notch restaurants. I feel what makes Bonefish Mac’s so special is their incredible variety of menu items, prices, and very friendly and courteous service.
